Careers and Vocational Education
The role of any school is to prepare all of their students for the rest of their lives. At Radford, we know that children have varied goals after their schooling. We cater to differing needs and offer a range of opportunities for students to explore. In addition to an extensive, wholesome education, we also provide opportunities for students to work towards a career path.
- career counselling
- Year 10 career education
- work experience.
Australian School-Based Apprenticeships
In senior years, students are able to work towards a Certificate II or III concurrently with their Year 12 Certificate as part of an Accredited Package (subjects not leading to university). An ASBA is set up between the school, an employer or a registered training organisation (RTO) such as CIT and the student and their family. The specifics of the apprenticeship vary depending on the trade and training. Students may have three to five days at school and one or two days at work or training per week.
Where an ASBA is not available in a trade/service, work experience may be negotiated.
Students have studied for an ASBA at Radford in:
- Early childhood
- Sport and recreation
