Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove opened the event. On Thursday, 23 March, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, opened the ACT Dream Cricket Gala Day at Kingston Oval.

The original aim of Dream Cricket is to provide primary school students with special needs an opportunity to play cricket activities on the Bradman Oval in Bowral.

The program has since grown to encompass schools and children throughout Australia and internationally.

Local high school students, carers and friends, alongside Rotarians, have been briefed to assist with a series of fun, modified cricket activities to suit the needs of each and every participant.

Radford College provided 32 enthusiastic, patient and caring Year 10 students to help with the smooth running of the day.

These students won many admirers from the students participating and their accompanying staff and families. As Jonathan Lyall from the Sunrise Rotary Group explained, ?the input of your students is absolutely fundamental to the success of the event and Radford?s students are never less than superb. I lost track of how many people came up to me today to comment on what an exceptional group they are, to which I could only agree 100%. The future of humankind looks very promising with these students as the next generation of leaders.?

From my vantage point behind the wickets, I could only strongly concur.
