Round Square - Conferences 2014
Round Square is a member of the global association of over 150 schools worldwide; each with 6 pillars (or IDEALS) of Internationalism, Democracy, Environment, Adventure, Leadership & Service as their focus. Each of the schools share common vision, ethos & values.
During the Easter vacation period, a delegation of 5 students attended the Junior Round Square Conference at the Kings College in Auckland, New Zealand. The theme ?Our planet, Our Future, Ours to Change? focussed on aspects of environmental concern & preservation with students exploring their role in stepping up to take on leadership roles that promote awareness of Global concern.
A delegation from Radford College attended the International Conference at Sanskaar Valley School, Bhopal, India during the October vacation. With the theme "We may not have it altogether, but together we have it all? students actively engaged in Barazza (discussion groups), participating in service and cultural activities that heightened understanding and opportunity of students as leaders and realised the power of student teams.
With a similar focus on Student Leadership, Radford College hosted the Young Round Square Conference with students from the Australasian Region attending. The theme ?It starts with Us? was launched at the opening ceremony held at Radford College, after which delegates engaged in orientation activities before heading to Birrigai ? Tidbinbilla for 3 days of focused activity. Using all that the environment of Birrigai offered, students were able to reinforce the value of teamwork, learnt conflict resolution strategies and meeting procedures. It is hoped that this paves the way for further leadership opportunity for all students & specifically those students who were part of the Radford delegation.
