The launch of George Huitker?s new book Big Life was a huge success, with the Senior School lecture theatre filled to capacity. Staff, students, Collegians, parents past and present all packed in to hear James Wanjura, Valedictorian of 2015, and Frank Fogliati, Principal of Black Mountain School, talk about George?s service learning journey and launch the book.

The evening began with refreshments and an opportunity for guests to mingle and acquire copies of Big Life and some of George?s earlier books, in particular the most recent, Little Life.
Guests then moved to the lecture theatre where James and Frank spoke with great enthusiasm and sincerity about how their lives had intersected with George?s through service learning. George spoke about this latest work and the Gamilaraay connection. The crowd included people who had travelled some distance to attend the event, including a cohort from the Tingha Primary School community, which is located 26 km from Inverell NSW, and is one of the schools in the Gamilaraay program.
The music of Midnight Oil features in the story of Big Life, and George and his Band, Junk Sculpture, treated the audience in the theatre to an ?unplugged? version of ?Home? from the Breathe album, before the action moved out to the Senior School common room areas for some definitely ?plugged in and pumping? music from George and the band.
