Crazy, Love and Learning
We are absolutely loving going through the process of creating learning opportunities that intentionally develop skills, literacies and understandings. Experiences that are rich, deep, relevant and meaningful are what makes a Radford College education unique, powerful and transferrable.

I want to share with you the following lyrics from a lesser known U2 song.

I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy

Every generation gets a chance to change the world
Pity the nation that won't listen to you boys and girls
Is the sweetest melody the one we haven't heard?
Is it true that perfect love drives out all fear?
The right to be ridiculous is something I hold dear
Oh, but change of heart comes slow

It's not a hill, it's a mountain
As you start out the climb
You see, for me, I've been shouting
But we're gonna make it all the way to the light
But I know I'll go crazy if I don't go crazy tonight

I’ll link back to crazy shortly. I want to share the updated list of strategies that educator John Hattie espouses for highly effective schools

Whilst the data sources are broad, Hattie’s ‘factors influencing student achievement’, both negatively and positively, are always interesting and thought-provoking for all stakeholders:  teachers, school leaders, parents and students. Data based on research to check our values, beliefs, assumptions and bias against.

I love seeing teacher efficacy and teacher judgement as positive influences with some of the greatest effect size. Both of these rely on high levels of trust, within the school and between the school and home. It’s valuing and honouring the profession and the professional vocation that teaching is.

Learning is relational and powerful. It relies on competence, confidence and trust.

Learning – real learning – is a kind of miracle. It is a gentle, delicate, interior process by which the soul comes into contact with something beyond itself and reaches out to it in love. Ben Myers

How do we best see each child engage with learning at the level of ‘love’? The very best teachers have a level of crazy about them. They’ll go crazy if they don’t go crazy. They are driven to create environments and experiences that teach skills, grow understanding and transform a learner’s way of looking at themselves and those around them.

It’s the perfect mix… crazy… love… learning.

From the Junior School Library
Wishing everyone a warm welcome from the library.

The Scholastic Book Club catalogue has been given to all students. We ask that all orders be placed online via the parent loop by Sunday 15 February please. Orders will be delivered to the class teacher who will distribute them to the students.

Thank you for your patronage, as the Junior School Library receives a small commission from all orders that is then used to purchase more resources for the Library.
