New Zealand Adventure Tour

Author: Kylie Robards, Outdoor Activities Coordinator

On 10 December 2014, nineteen students and two teachers flew out to New Zealand for an Adventure Tour.

The first adventure was black water rafting through one of the many caves in Waitomo. Students and teachers floated through a cave on a black tube and jumping backwards off the waterfalls in the caves. Day 2 was more caving on an adventure called the 'Lost World', indeed it was a lost world - abseiling down a 100m rope straight into a cave which reminded us all of a Jurassic time, it was a surreal experience for all of us. After the epic abseil we weaved, climbed and jumped through the cave and rested for afternoon tea inside the cave surrounded by thousands of glow worms!

Over the next few days, we participated in white water rafting, luging, swooping, sea kayaking, visiting Hobbittown and other 'adventure' activities. Students were challenged by the various activities and made the most of their time in New Zealand.

The next New Zealand adventure trip will be held in December 2016 and will be offered to current Year 9 and Year 10 students later in the year.
