Netball - Radford Gold 2019 – a personal thank you

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the players and parents from the Radford Gold Netball team.  Our season started in March 2019 and this was the first opportunity I had to meet the girls that I would be coaching and mentoring. During the grading rounds, this provided me an invaluable opportunity to see which division and grade the girls would best fit from a player development, competitive and fun perspective.

Gold netball team 2019The Gold team had an excellent season, the girls set themselves some personal and team goals, which over the course of the season they certainly achieved. The goals were:

  • communication through the court
  • strong rebounds at both ends of the court
  • 100% work effort at all training and games.

During the season, the girls competed in the Cadets Division 1 competition.  The team played 14 round games, where they played against teams from schools and clubs. The girls went through the 2019 season with 9 wins and 5 loses.  The Top 4 ladder finish was very close with only 2 points separating 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions.   The Gold team made it through to the minor semi-finals but unfortunately went down to INNC Snow Leopards in overtime, final score 41 – 38.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Sports Department (Brent, Di and Megan) for all their help, support and coordination over the season.  To the parents & caregivers of the Gold team, thank you for always being there at the netball courts supporting not just your daughters but the team each week; and lastly, to the wonderful and amazing group of girls that I was fortunate enough to coach/mentor this season: you girls have been an absolute pleasure, your commitment throughout the season and your willingness to improve, learn, take on new challenges and compete throughout the season has been fantastic.  I would like to wish you all the best for the remainder of 2019 and I look forward to the 2020 season.

Thank You,

Coach for Radford Gold
