What do you like best about your current role?

One of the best things about teaching Year 3 is seeing how independent the students are, compared to when I taught them in Year 1. It is very special to be reunited with the 2020 Year 1 cohort, watching how their little personalities and interests have grown, and getting to know them better!

What can you tell us about your role and current projects?

This year has been busy and exciting because I have been a classroom teacher, a house leader, and a digital learning leader! I feel very lucky to have these responsibilities because I’m able to get involved in house activities with students from a range of year levels. I love cheering and house spirit so days like the House Cross Country and Athletics carnivals are my favourite! Go Kurrajong!

I’ve also really enjoyed working with students from K–4 to support the teaching and learning of digital technologies by integrating this with other learning areas such as English and Maths.

What did you do before joining the Radford community?

Before joining the Radford community, I was a Kindergarten teacher at another school in Canberra. I’ve lived in Canberra for six years but grew up in Melbourne where I studied Science and then teaching. At uni, I studied Psychology and was particularly interested in the developmental psychology of children. This interest is what led me to teaching!

What do you enjoy outside Radford?

Outside Radford, I love to do a variety of activities. I play the piano and guitar and sing, I like to stay active by going to the gym and running when I can, and I teach yoga. Mostly, I love hanging out with my groodle, Kingston. J

Anything else interesting you might like to add?

During the July holidays, I got married in the Radford Chapel. It was very special to be surrounded by Radford colleagues and some Radford families. The photo featured is on my wedding day with a former student, Cora, in 2KH.
