What do you like best about your current role?
I love that no two days are the same! I feel privileged to work with the talented and friendly students at the College. They have a great deal of wisdom to offer and remind me about the importance of curiosity and patience. My teaching colleagues are supportive, dedicated professionals and I genuinely value their expertise and friendship.

Can you tell us about your role and current projects?
I am currently teaching Years 8–12 English and I am a Year 10 Mentor. I particularly enjoy teaching literature, drama, poetry and film. I love discussing texts on a deep level with students and encouraging them to appreciate the power of words! In my Coaching role I enjoy helping new teachers to reflect on their practice and supporting their professional growth and development. I am currently training to become an assessor for National Teacher Certification, which has offered me the opportunity to foster a deeper understanding of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST).

What did you do before joining the Radford community?
I completed a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Teaching at the University of Sydney before moving to the United Kingdom. In London, I had the fabulous opportunity to work in a wide range of schools including Nursery, Middle Schools, and High Schools. I spent two wonderful years travelling across Europe and to Asia. A travel highlight would be my trip to the Pyramids of Giza and the amazing three-day felucca trip on the Nile River!

Upon returning to Sydney, I worked as an English Teacher in the Catholic and Independent systems for 15 years, before making the big move, with my family, to the ACT.

What do you enjoy outside Radford?
I love spending time with my family and our adorable cavoodle, Daisy. Catching up with family and friends is something I try to do regularly. I also enjoy cooking. My perfect afternoon is usually spent going for a long walk, reading a good book and listening to music. I am intrigued by all things vintage and antiques. I recently uncovered and restored my grandfather’s 1950s Bakelite AWA radio!
