By Lachlan Herring, Captain

It is well known throughout the theatre world that Macbeth is not an easy play to pull off. However, I feel I can confidently say that this production was truly something special.

The imposingly spectacular set was designed by Oli Bailey, Lachlan Wilson, and Michael Vincent; the stunning and psychologically-expressionist lighting was curated by Darcy Wiseman and Poppy Munro-Mobbs; the atmospheric and powerful sounds were created by Luka Sostarko; the brilliant and gorgeous costumes by Charlotte Taylor, Robbie Potter, and Milo Kroeger; and the mountain of high quality (and sometimes deadly) props by Kieran Pitchford, Ben Charlton, and Jackson Passlow.

These are all just some of the amazing things that made this show stand out. Not to mention the incredible direction of Mr Jason Golding and the amazing performances from the cast who simply radiated talent and passion.

As students of the performing arts, we are blessed to have the opportunities that Radford Theatre Company provides. Students here learn by doing and collaborating. Through the guidance (and patience) of producer Mr Nick Akhurst, we are allowed to do shows as big as this and learn how to turn our work into real, thriving theatrical art.

The art of the actor is not to stand on a stage and tell lies, but to tell the truth. It is to understand and empathise with another human being so deeply that you allow them to live and breathe through you, handing over even the vulnerable and broken parts of yourself to them and allowing that to take on new life. The character of Macbeth is complex to say the least. The rehearsal process was a rough journey at times. I walked with him hand in hand, and I loved introducing my version of him to audiences.

I am beyond grateful to Mr Golding for putting his trust in me to take on such a beast of a role and I thank him, Ms Ridge (Assistant Director), Mr Akhurst, and the entire cast for all their support in the past few months.

There is no other show I would have wanted to be my last here, and there was no other cast or creative team I would have rather done it with.
