As the end of the school year comes into clearer view, we are prompted both to reflect on the year that will soon end, and to start looking ahead to 2022.

Reflecting on our year

Several end-of-year events will provide opportunities to celebrate and reflect on our year:

  • Thursday, 2 December – End of Year 6 Chapel and Celebration. Parents are invited to the Chapel Service and Ceremony in TB Millar Hall. The Chapel Service will start at 5.30pm, while the Ceremony will start at 6.30pm and finish at 7.00pm. Students are then invited to the Year 6 Disco, which will start at 7.30pm in the RA Young Hall and conclude at 8.30pm.
  • Sunday, 5 December – Carols. The carols service will be livestreamed on Sunday, 5 December at 5pm. The link for the stream will be distributed in the Bulletin on Wednesday, 1 December.
  • Tuesday, 7 December – Junior School Celebration. This will be pre-recorded and viewed by all students at 9.00am. The Junior School Festival of Houses will follow directly afterwards. A link will be distributed to families on Tuesday, 7 December.

Wastefree lunches every day

Our Radford Tribal Council (RTC) has been leading a ‘wastefree’ initiative in the Junior School that has seen a significant reduction in rubbish and waste across our campus. We thank the RTC for their positive action and strong leadership in the Junior School’s efforts to be more sustainable.

From 2022, we will expand this initiative to having wastefree lunches every day. Nude food is an important step both in encouraging healthy eating and in reducing waste.

Reporting review

We have undertaken a reporting review over the course of this year, reflecting on our communication and feedback processes to ensure that the information that parents and students receive about their progress is timely, constructive and has the appropriate focus.

The reporting review working party incorporated members of the leadership teams across the College, representing varied roles, viewpoints and experience. The group has interrogated research and consulted with other successful schools across Australia and a variety of stakeholders, including students, as discussed at our recent Education Wellbeing Open Forum. While the recommendations are yet to be finalised, there has been an overwhelming consensus on the direction we take.

Next year our reports will look a little different. We will provide further information to families early in 2022.
