To deepen our learning experience, we invited Ronnie Jordan to spend time with each Kindergarten arts class to share her culture and teach us how to weave Indigenous animals using straw and wool.

Ronnie is an Indigenous artist who is a descendent of the Kalkadoon People of the Mt Isa region.

The artworks were based on the animations created using the weaving of the Tjanpi Desert Weavers. Tjanpi (meaning grass in Pitjantjatjara language) represents over 400 Anangu/Yarnangu women artists from 26 remote communities on the Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) lands. The NPY lands cover approximately 350,000 square kilometres across the tri-state (WA, SA, NT) border region of Central Australia (https://tjanpi.com.au).

We are grateful to Ronnie for providing an engaging and enriching learning experience for us all. More information about Ronnie Jordan can be found here: http://www.cultureonthemove.com/
