Languages and Literature Week
By Michele Sharp, Head of Languages, and Susan Davenport, Head of Library and Information Services
In Week 6, Languages Week (commencing 22 August) is collaborating with the Library Book Week festivities to bring you the inaugural Secondary School “Languages and Literature Week”.
Languages Week: is designed to raise awareness of the benefits of language learning and to highlight linguistic diversity in our community.
Book Week: celebrates Australian children’s and Young Adult literature and promotes the importance of reading.
In combining these weeks, we celebrate the love of literature in all languages and the importance it plays in our community.
A variety of activities and competitions will be on offer during the week with all activities in or near the Secondary School Library.
There will be a special international flair to the Canteen menu, and the Secondary School Library will be highlighting foreign language titles, as well as our extensive range of Young Adult literature.
Years 9–12 students will discover Hispanic Culture through a Virtual Reality (VR) Experience in the Library during the week. If you would prefer your child did not participate in the VR experience, please contact rowena.stevens@radford.act.edu.au
More details will be advised at Assembly, but activities running all week are:
- special international menu in the Canteen with a literary theme
- quizzes and competitions in the Secondary School Library
- interactive displays in the Secondary School Library.
