At Radford College we seek to be a generous-spirited learning community. Generosity is shown every day as people share time, resources, conversation, and experiences that we reflect upon together.

Our generosity is a response to the generosity of God, which we experience in the abundance and goodness of creation, the gift of each other, and in God’s generosity shown to us in the person of Jesus Christ.

Radford Reaches Out (RRO), our annual whole-college fundraising appeal, harnesses generosity in a particular way as students fundraise for, and learn about, organisations doing great work near and far.
Thank you, everyone, for your generosity.

Junior School fundraising

by Melinda Hamilton

The Junior School raised $11,183.25. Each year level set a goal of how much money they would like to raise, and which organisations they felt passionate about. As students brought in money or their families donated online, the progress was tracked on large thermometers.

The Radford Tribal Council (RTC) has already allocated the following funds to organisations that support ongoing areas of action from the Junior School:

The RTC has also decided to donate $500 to Lids4Kids, a grassroots 100% volunteer-run project that rescues plastic from landfill and repurposes it into sustainable products. Lids4Kids aims to establish Canberra’s first small plastics recycling centre and community hubs to support its volunteers, many of whom are children and persons with a disability. Education on sustainability for kids is another of their services.

The rest of the funds will be distributed to organisations throughout the year, responding to needs as they arise, and requests for action from year levels and the Primary Years Programme Year 6 exhibition groups.

Our next fundraising venture is the RTC Movie Night, featuring Stuart Little, on Wednesday 1 June. This event raises money for the education and wellbeing of Jose, Antia, Althia and Mariano, sponsored through Compassion Australia. For more information about this fun event click here.
