Basketball Coaches

How to Apply

Radford College is seeking enthusiastic, knowledgeable, experienced basketball coaches. Our Basketball program is one of the biggest in the ACT. Teams are entered in the U10s to U19s weekend Basketball ACT competition.

The Role

As a Radford basketball coach, you will be responsible for providing weekly training and game, season and player evaluation plans.

Radford College basketball coaches must assume a major role in fostering cooperation and teamwork; exhibiting outstanding sportsmanship and assume a major role in the development of our student athletes.

This job requires you to interact thoughtfully and respectfully with student athletes, fellow coaches, staff, parents and the Radford community. You will be expected to communicate with managers, players and parents weekly, attend all coaching meetings and attend professional development opportunities as organised by the Director of Basketball. Positive communication strategies, organisational skills, and safety awareness are key requirements.

Please note Summer season takes place during Terms 4 and 1.  Winter season occurs during Terms 2 and 3.

Essential Requirements

Qualifications

Coaches must have playing and/or coaching experience. Student coaches may be considered, however, must shadow one of our experienced coaches for a full season prior to coaching a team on their own.

Skills and Attributes

To be successful as a coach you will demonstrate:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and provide feedback to players in a sensitive manner
  • The ability to work collaboratively with parents, students and other staff
  • Participate during training sessions and provide ongoing feedback to the players you coach
  • Show enjoyment and passion for teaching the game by taking initiative and being creative during training and games
  • You are receptive to receiving feedback and enjoy teaching and learning.

Salary

$31.48 - $56.66 per hour minimum engagement is two hours.
