Apple Distinguished School, again!

By Lisa Plenty, Director of Digital Learning and Innovation & Eric Jensen, Digital Learning Coach

Radford Junior School is pleased to announce that it has once again been recognised as an Apple Distinguished School for 2022-25 for its consolidated approach to the use of iPad. This has been achieved through a curated series of educational applications that enable teachers and students to use familiar and intuitive technology to support learning goals and extend learning experiences to drive creative and critical thinking.

Apple Distinguished Schools are centres of innovation in learning, leadership, and educational excellence. They use Apple technology to inspire creativity and critical thinking in learning, teaching and the school environment, and have documented results of academic accomplishment.

The selection of Radford Junior School as an Apple Distinguished School highlights our success as an innovative and compelling learning environment in which students are engaged in digital learning with tangible evidence of academic achievement.

Through our reapplication, we were able to highlight examples of student learning experiences that are enriched through the use of technology; share our recent inclusion of three Digital Learning Leaders (teachers who lead and work with colleagues to integrate technology into learning experiences) and our data collation, exploring the experience of teachers, students and insights from parents. These insights help us to define areas for ongoing improvement and development.

In the coming years, these areas of development include further consolidation of the Digital Technologies curriculum and publishing examples of that curriculum to celebrate and share the digital learning journey at Radford.

For ongoing insight, we have developed a new page on the College website to share and celebrate our Apple Distinguished School application evidence. Please review the page at this link.
