Creative Craft Club
By Michelle Chambers, Design and Technology Teacher
I like to think of myself as quite a creative and 'crafty' person – not in the cunning or devious way (although some may disagree), but the ‘creative handy crafting’ kind of way – however, I think I may have come across a couple of young ladies who will give me a ‘run for my money’. Money I could be spending on a lot of craft stuff to add to my collection (whoever dies with the most, wins, right?!).
Eva Tsiros (Year 8) and Olivia Christian (Year 7) are just two of the many talented members of Radford’s Creative Craft Club co-curricular, held each term-time Thursday afternoon from 3:30pm–5:00pm.
Eva is an avid crafter with particularly impressive skills in crocheting, knitting and all things yarn- and thread-related. Recently you may have seen her ever-growing menagerie of little crochet creatures, which she makes and gives to her friends, and to Good Omen Goodeze, our club charity project for this year.
Olivia brings with her a different range of skills: this extremely talented young person has a special affinity with artistic design and polymer clay, from which she creates beautiful and unique handmade jewellery. Olivia’s upcoming projects feature a range of screen-printed designs she made with our MiScreen machine at school. You may have unknowingly come across one of her creations while watching Carrie Bickmore on The Project, or in the Canberra Times article in which Olivia is featured.
To be surrounded by such talent makes Creative Craft Club my happy place!
