God dwells with us
For it is only in love that the unequal can be made equal. This quote from 19th-century philosopher Søren Kierkegaard is an appropriate way to describe the humbling action of God taking on the appearance of man and choosing to dwell with us on Earth. Apostle Paul expresses this incredible act of love for creation in Philippians 2:6-8.

This artwork, Through Him, All Things, by Rev. Lauren Wright Pittman, is inspired by John 1:1-14. She depicts the image of Jesus as a prism. The light that is life, that comes from the Creator, shines through Jesus, and it is through him that we can see the fullness and beauty of who God is. This reinforces John’s cosmic and mysterious concept of the ‘Word’: All things came into being through him ... in him was life, and the life was the light of all people (John 1:3-4).
Pittman portrays this abstract and consequential concept of light by referencing the seven days of creation with a simplified rainbow. It is through Jesus Christ that all things came into being, and it is through him that we experience the unending, steadfast love of God; the love that enabled God to share in equality with humans; the love in which God chooses to dwell among us.

As we finish our year:
May the God of Christmas fill your hearts with all joy and peace in believing!
The blessing of the manger, God's creation all around.
The blessing of the shepherds, God's people with feet on the ground.
The blessing of the angels, good news for all, and peace for the world.
Be with you all now and forever.
May it be so!
Amen
May the love of God be with you this Christmas,
Chaplain Andy
