In profile: Blake Jarvis

What do you like best about your current role as a Secondary HPE & Exercise Science Teacher?

I love the energy the students here bring every day. It’s great to work with and opens up teaching possibilities that don’t necessarily happen at every school.

What can you tell us about your role and current projects?

I teach HPE across every Secondary School year group and also teach Year 12 Exercise Science (Ex Sci).

In Ex Sci we have been working on re-establishing links with physiotherapists and biomechanists (post COVID shutdowns) to facilitate hands-on experiences with current industry experts for our students.

What did you do before joining the Radford community?

I spent the last few years teaching HPE and Exercise Science at the Australian International School in Singapore.

What do you enjoy outside Radford?

I love reading (I taught History and Literature early in my career), am currently enjoying Saga Land by Richard Fidler for non-fiction, and South of the Border, West of the Sun by Haruki Murakami, wondering when I can travel to Japan again.
