In profile: Karen McGuire
Karen manages the Radford Canteen on behalf of Trippas White Group.
What do you like best about your role?
I get so much joy from feeding people – my role allows me to have an influence in terms of what I can provide to the community.
Can you tell us about your role and current projects?
I am a Chef and Manager in the canteen and I am always looking for ways to introduce new products. I have a passion for allergens and dietaries, so my current project is to create new options for people with allergies and or cultural dietary needs.
COVID has made some goals hard to achieve due to supply issues.
What did you do before joining the Radford community?
I have been a Chef in Canberra for the past 20 years – I have had Executive/Head Chef roles and I also volunteered for six years in a community kitchen on the southside.
What do you enjoy outside Radford?
I have so much to enjoy in my spare time. I have been blessed with three beautiful girls and a husband who keep me on my toes. Our home away from home is in Jervis Bay so any chance we get, we are there. Weekend sport often gets in the way, but we love it! So much to do, but never enough time.
I’m also a huge fan of the V8 Supercars, NRL, soccer and … actually all sports!
