Knowing me and knowing you
As promised in Week 1’s bulletin, we thought we’d take this opportunity for you to get to know us a little bit more. Feel free to write to us at chaplains@radford.act.edu.au if you’d like to tell us some things about you!
Five things about Chaplain Andy
- I cannot remember a time when I wasn’t involved in a sport. While I am known here for rugby, I have played all four of the winter football sports, cricket, tennis, netball and athletics.
- My favourite music genre is singer/songwriter style. I love listening to this music while sitting around our firepit with family and friends on those cool winter Sunday afternoons.
- I like the idea of being a fancy cook, but I’m better at heating things up!
- I enjoy discovering new places for holidays. Getting to ‘explore’ the cities and ancient villages in the Sichuan and Chongqing provinces in China, Stone Town in Zanzibar and going on the Myall Creek Memorial trip last June are all highlights.
- When I’m not studying or coaching rugby, I get the privilege of chasing my three sons around. I am so blessed to watch them grow into fine young men (must get this from my wife!)
Five things about Rev. Katherine
- When I was in Year 10, I did one week of work experience as an Anglican priest and one week as a primary school teacher. I followed both paths and love being at Radford because I get to combine both vocations.
- I take advantage of a weekend on the coast whenever possible, and never let the weather get in the way of an opportunity for a swim!
- On Wednesday evenings you can find me at Turner tennis courts, enjoying some cardio tennis.
- I love reading and am grateful for the Radford library! I love books that combine personal stories within a broader social and political setting. My favourite book is A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth. The last book I read was Chai Time at Cinnamon Gardens by Shankari Chandran.
- I grew up in Goulburn and have lived in Canberra for most of my life, with stints in Wollongong for university, and three years teaching in remote Northern Territory on Gurindji Country.
