Year 9/10 excursion
by Amy Zheng, Chinese Language Captain
Led by Ms Gu and Ms Zhang, the 2022 Year 10 and Year 9 Chinese classes were excited to have the opportunity try Chinese hotpot (火锅 huǒguō). During an excursion in Term 2, both classes ventured out to a restaurant in Dickson, to try the popular and historical meal.
Hotpot is a meal where friends and family gather around a simmering pot of broth to add ingredients of choice, such as meat, vegetables, seafood, etc to eat. Students from both classes were thrilled to be able to have a taste of a tradition that dates back 1000 years.
This food excursion broadened the students’ knowledge of the Chinese food and culture unit they have been studying, giving them an opportunity to experience a culture is that is shaped around delicious and traditional food.
