Message re: change to term dates
The Principal Fiona Godfrey sent the message below to the College community this week.
Dear Radford Community Members
I write to update you on the College’s plans for Term 3, given the current lockdown in the ACT.
While we intended to finish Term 3 on Friday 24 September, it now makes sense to shorten the term by one week, and return to Term 4 a week earlier than previously published, on Tuesday October 5.
The reasons for this are:
• the Chief Minister has indicated that all schools are unlikely to return to on-campus teaching and learning for the remainder of Term 3
• Radford staff and students have been going well with remote teaching and learning, but we are cognisant of the added strain and that everyone needs a break
• in finishing Term 3 one week earlier, Radford will align with ACT Education Directorate and other independent schools. This means we will position ourselves to return to on-campus teaching and learning on Tuesday October 5, should the ACT Government lift restrictions and allow that to occur. If this is not possible, remote learning will continue from this date.
Secondary School assessments and parent/teacher/student conversations scheduled for Week 10 of Term 3 will be organised for another time. Teachers will notify students of assessment changes in a timely way. More information on Secondary School parent/teacher/student conversations, which will be conducted online, will follow soon.
This change means Week 1, Term 4 will be Week B in the timetable for all students.
In other news, the College has been advised that construction of the new carpark can recommence from Friday 3 September. Any parents dropping off to the Learning Hub will notice the presence of heavy machinery from this date.
Once again, I thank you for your support at this uncertain and challenging time. I will continue to update you on our plans, should they need to change.
Kind regards
Fiona Godfrey
