Music Camp, 2022

By Molly Lilley & Ben Charlton, Performing Arts Prefects 2022
On 12-13 February, around a hundred keen musicians from Chorale, Camerata, Bernstein Symphonic Wind Orchestra, and Corelli Chamber String Orchestra took part in our annual Music Camp. Unfortunately, due to COVID, we were unable to go to go to Greenhills, as we normally would, but we made the best of it on the Radford campus.
The camp offered a great opportunity to get to know each other and get started on the repertoire. Over the two days, we were able to take part in several exciting and fun activities, including all-in singing rehearsals, movement activities to unwind from rehearsals, music trivia, and finally the concert, to showcase all that we had learnt.
Highlights of the repertoire covered over the weekend included Horizon, a Radford College school song that Chorale will perform at our Foundation Day Service, Camerata singing a beautiful Sanctus, Corelli Chamber String Orchestra working on Corelli’s Christmas Concerto and Vivaldi’s Double Cello Concerto, and Bernstein Symphonic Wind Orchestra playing Skyfall (James Bond).
We are all very grateful to have been able to take part in this experience despite not being able to go away to Greenhills, and we look forward to what the rest of the year will bring in Performing Arts!
