Public Speaking Success

By Mr Nick Ewbank, Director of Oratory

On Tuesday 19 March, ACT Rostrum hosted the ACT heats of the Voice of Youth at Radford College. The Voice of Youth is the premier and oldest speaking competition for secondary students across Australia, and has been run by Rostrum for 50 years.

There were seven Year 7–9 students who spoke in the School Final in February. Our two winners were Year 9 students, Thenuki Weerabaddana Dissanayake and Arisha Ahmed. They progressed to the ACT Final and both Thenuki and Arisha won their respective heats, a fine achievement. They will progress to the NSW regional Quarter Finals next term.

This is the third year in a row that Thenuki has achieved this milestone!

Rostrum is an organisation open to all, and more information can be found at www.rostrum.com.au/act.

Congratulations and good luck, girls!
