RTC – reaching out to others

The Junior School Radford Tribal Council (RTC) was so pleased to receive $9158 from the Radford Reaches Out fundraiser at the end of Term 1.

This money is being used to support many worthy causes. Here is a video summarising the RTC decisions.

Compassion sponsorship
$1728 is being used for another 12 months of sponsorship for our Compassion children, Jose, Antia and Althia.

The RTC also felt that we were in a position to take on sponsorship of another Compassion child, as the Junior School has grown significantly since initially sponsoring Jose, Antia and Althia.

We have chosen to now also sponsor Mariano from Ecuador. He had been waiting 511 days for a Sponsor. We’re looking forward to communicating with Mariano in Spanish!

Year group charity choices

The RTC has allocated $500 to these charities following year groups' requests for assistance in taking action related to their Units of Inquiry.

The Junior School students felt strongly about continuing to support these organisations which help our environment, animals and people in need.

• UNICEF India COVID Appeal – We donated $500 to UNICEF India COVID appeal https://www.unicef.org.au/appeals/india-covid-19-crisis, as we have many families in the Radford community with family and friends in India.

The RTC will be allocating the rest of the funds throughout the year in response to further requests for action support.
