Snowsports team's ‘A-game’ at Australian Interschools

The pinnacle national event for our snowboard and ski racers was held last week over 5–11 September at Perisher, testing every inch of ability and perseverance with challenging icy racecourses and highly variable weather conditions.
This year, 1,519 competitors were registered from 290 schools across Australia.
Australian Interschools alternates annually between Mt Buller in Victoria to Perisher, NSW, and this year our smallest ever ‘home-mountain’ team of 20 punched well above its weight to maintain Radford Snowsports' competitive reputation with 11th placing in the overall Secondary Co-ed school ranking from 29 similar schools competing at the championships.
No Interschools racing event can happen without the support of parent volunteer course officials to ensure a safe and fairly adjudicated outcome for all competitors. With our obligation to provide volunteers shared evenly and equitably between our families at snowsports events (like any other school or club-based sport), Radford College’s record over 26 years of Interschools participation is second to none in reliability. Thank you to Tiffany Tam and Chris Hinchcliffe for their support in joining me on duty at events at these championships.
