Sports Report: 15 June 2022

AUSTRALIAN REPRESENTATIVES
Radford has again had several student athletes wearing the green and gold, representing themselves, their families, the College, and Australia with pride.

  • Owen Toyne, Year 9, has won gold in the U18 5000m race walk event at the 2022 Oceania Track and Field Championships. Owen was the youngest in the race, and also managed to break the meet record. This amazing achievement has resulted in Owen being ranked 3rd in the world in this event.
  • Joining Owen at the 2022 Oceania Track and Field Championships was Alex Gordon, Year 12. Alex competed in the U20 400m hurdles and brought home a bronze medal.
  • Charlotte Duncan, Year 12, has recently returned from Thailand where she competed for Australia in the 2022 U19 Beach Volleyball Asian Championships.

Congratulations to Owen, Alex and Charlotte on your Australian representative honours.

ICE SKATING
Radford Sport is always keen to share the achievements of our students who compete in sports not offered by the College.

Charlie Lumb, Year 9, Poppy Munro-Mobbs, Year 11, and Imogen Eynon-Cooke, Year 12, all competed at Autumn Trophy in Canberra 20-22 May, where Charlie came 1st in Advanced Novice, Poppy came 2nd in Preliminary, and Imogen came 2nd in Artistic. Well done, all!

Charlie went on to compete in Sydney over the June long weekend at Hollins Trophy, the NSW Ice Skating national qualifying event. At this event, there were competitors from NSW, VIC, QLD, SA and WA.
