ICE (Improvement, Contribution or Excellence) Awards

The 2022 ICE (Improvement, Contribution or Excellence) Award winners have been announced in Nexus. For the first time in two years, we were able to complete a full season of Winter Sport and Radford Sport would like to congratulate the award winners and achievers in basketball, football, netball, rugby and snowsports.

The Stars, Sixers and Navy teams continued their winning ways last Saturday. Individual highlights included Rohan Steven (Sixers) recording his maiden fifty (61 not out off 46 balls), and Rudra Rathod (Navy) returning the amazing figures of five for eight off five overs.

Congratulations to Amber Smith and Mia Phelps on their selection in the ACT Under 19 Women’s team. They will represent ACT at the National Championships in Perth in a few weeks’ time. Amber has also been selected to play in the ACT Under 16 team.

Captain of Cricket, Jake Smith, and fellow First XI teammate, Raakin Rahmen, have been selected in the ACT Men’s team to contest the NSW Country Championships in Orange later this week.

Round 3 Girls U14 Water Polo - By Phoebe Fox, Goalkeeper

On Saturday, 19 November, the Radford Raptors water polo team competed in perfect outdoor spring conditions against Nordek Blue. Nordek came away with a 7-5 win, but it was a highly-contested match at Civic Pool, and I was kept very busy as goalkeeper.

During Tuesday’s practice at Cisac Pool, our team focused on swimming fitness, shooting, and passing to improve match skills. Practise produced results with long, clear shots by Molly Jones and strong centre pool attacks by Svara Kelkar and Kate Kristiansen. Carys Hodgkinson and Stella Layton kept the opposition treading water while they made space and opportunities out on the wings. Gemma O’Rourke and Aoife Rothery are the newest recruits to Girls U14 water polo and have lifted our game and improved skill levels across the pool. A huge thank you to our coach Kate Daly for lots of support and encouragement on the pool deck once again this week.
