Secondary School Parent-Teacher-Student Conversations

Due to the current ACT lockdown, online Secondary School Parent-Teacher-Student Conversations will be booked on the PTO platform and held as meetings on Microsoft Teams on:

• Tuesday 14 September, 3.00pm–8.00pm; and
• Friday 17 September, 11.05am –3.30.pm.

The aims of these conversations are to provide parents and teachers an opportunity to discuss the student’s engagement with their learning, achievements, and strategies to support improvement. We expect students to attend with their parents or caregivers.

The recently released Interim Reports, visible on SEQTA Engage, will note if a conversation is required.

Booking Information

Wednesday 8 September – bookings for teacher-recommended conversations are now open in the PTO platform (see link to instructions below). Please note if the symbol below appears under a class/subject, it indicates that the teacher has recommended a conversation.

Thursday 9 September – other bookings open.

There is no expectation that you make a booking unless a teacher has recommended a conversation. If a teacher has recommended a conversation, and you are unable to secure a booking on the Wednesday, please try again on the Thursday. The interview time with each teacher will be five minutes. Please keep in mind that teachers are conducting these conversations from their homes and they may have IT issues, and the needs of housemates and families to manage too.

Bookings for the conversations are made through Parent Teacher On-Line (PTO).

Please read these instructions to book and attend your conversation.

Test Microsoft Teams set-up, ahead of conversation meetings next week

Our IT Operations Department has set up a test for parents and caregivers unfamiliar with Microsoft Teams.

Once you have booked your conversation through PTO, you can click on this link to check if you can join the meeting, see a notice on the screen and hear music (you will not be able to test your microphone).

Please note the following points:

  • When you log on, the system displays only your own child/children. Bookings are made for individual parents/guardians, not for couples. Couples can, however, log on to the system simultaneously to coordinate bookings. If two parents/guardians wish to attend a single interview time slot, one parent/guardian should make the booking then both can attend.

  • You will only see time slots that are available at the time you are using the system. As time slots are booked for teachers, those time slots are no longer displayed as available. PTO prevents double-booking of teachers or parents/guardians.

  • When you have made all the bookings you require, you can download or email a chronological list of your bookings for printing. You can log in and change bookings any time up to midnight the night before that session.

  • Other parents may be making bookings at the same time that you are using the system. It is possible, though unlikely, that a time slot is displayed to you as available, but is then booked by another parent shortly afterwards. If you then attempt to book this time slot it will not be available and a message will be displayed to indicate this.

If you have any problems booking your conversations or on the night connecting for your interviews, please contact Main Reception on 6162 6200 or email reception@radford.act.edu.au

If for whatever reason things don’t work out on the evening for your conversations, the teacher will be in contact.
