Welcome to 2023

I usually say, “Week 1, we’ve just begun… Week 2, nothing new… Week 3, it’s all about me…” The rhymes can go on.

The main point being, even the way the weeks roll on follow a similar pattern. Just as our energy levels combine with our personalities and habits, resulting sometimes in amazing things and sometimes in chaos. On the journey to being a more honest, loving teacher and leader, I ground myself in the things below.

Some things to remember as we start the year:

  • Every child is unique.
  • All small steps of growth are a cause for celebration.
  • We learn from our mistakes.
  • We are a long time grown up.
  • Childhood is not a race.
  • Children learn at different rates and in different ways.

When I think about what are the really important things that support learning at home, I know these things to be true:

  • We get better at reading by reading.
  • We get better at writing by writing.
  • We get better at crunching numbers by crunching numbers.

We are really excited about this year. Our incredible teachers, learners and resources empower us to be creators and curators that will make the world a better and more peaceful place.
