How to Apply
Applying to Radford is simple. Explore the steps, apply to secure your place on the waitlist, book a tour and find everything you need to begin your enrolment journey.
Radford College is one of Canberra’s leading co-educational Anglican schools. To be considered for a place, all children must be registered on the College waitlist. Applications are open year-round and we strongly encourage families to apply early.
Entry points
The main intake years at Radford are:
- Pre-Kindergarten
- Year 3
- Year 7
- Year 11
Please note that children must turn 4 by 30 April of the year they commence Pre-Kindergarten. Children who turn 4 after 30 April, can commence in Term 1 of the following year.
Places in other year levels are offered if vacancies arise.
Waitlist and registration
Radford College is currently fully enrolled in all year levels for 2026. The enrolment process for the main entry points (Pre-Kindergarten, Year 3, Year 7 and Year 11) for 2027 commenced in Semester 1 of 2025. Offers for places in other year levels are made as vacancies arise. The College holds waitlists for all year levels.
- Each child must be individually registered on the waitlist via the online application form.
- Registration costs $220 per child (non-refundable). This fee covers administration while your child remains on the waitlist.
- Children are placed on a waitlist for the preferred entry year (e.g. ‘Year 3, 2026’). Ranking on the waitlist is determined by the interval (number of days) between date of birth and date of application, after priority students.
- Students remain on the waitlist until an offer is made, or schooling is complete. If a place is unavailable in the preferred entry year, the child’s name automatically transfers to successive year levels while maintaining the original registration date.
- Tip: It is recommended that you place your child on the earliest year level waitlist you would be prepared to accept.
- For example: if you are open to entry at either Year 3 in 2026 or Year 7 in 2029, placing your child on the Year 3 in 2026 list means they will be considered for a possible place from Year 3 onwards. If you choose the Year 7 2029 list, your child will only be considered for entry from Year 7.
Applications
To register your child on the waitlist, complete and submit the online application form (payment of the $220 fee is required).
If you require enrolment within the next two years, or if your child is currently in Year 9 or above, please contact the Enrolments office for advice before submitting an application.
Updating your information
Any changes to existing registrations – including contact details or preferred year of entry – must be made in writing, quoting your child’s full name and date of birth. The Enrolments office will confirm requested changes by email.

Enrolment process
- Apply online – complete the online application form and pay the $220 fee.
- Acknowledgement – you will receive an acknowledgement email. Please contact Enrolments if an acknowledgement email is not received.
- Confirmation of Interest (COI) – 2 years before entry for intake years – families on the waitlist will be contacted to confirm their continued interest in a place at the College.
- Formal offer of enrolment – once places are available, priority students are considered first, followed by others based on date of registration.
- Families will receive a formal letter of offer.
- Families are given 2 weeks to accept the offer.
- Attendance at a school tour is encouraged prior to acceptance.
- Acceptance – once an offer has been accepted:
- Families are asked to complete an updated enrolment form, including student photo and background information.
- Families attend an enrolment interview with College Executive staff to ensure a smooth transition and provide an opportunity to discuss the child’s needs, interests and background in more detail.
- Radford College provides a comprehensive orientation program to support new students.
- Families receive a commencement letter in mid-January of the year of entry, containing final details and reminders for a smooth start to College life.

Enrolment policy
Radford College is non-selective. Offers of places do not depend on:
- academic performance
- sporting or co-curricular achievements
- religion
- where a student lives
- current school or community involvement.
Enrolment offers are based on the interval (number of days) between date of birth and date of registration, by gender.
The College offers equal numbers of places to male and female students at the main entry points and seeks to maintain gender balance across Year levels. Separate waitlists are maintained for male and female students for this purpose. Priority is given to:
- children of permanent staff
- siblings of Radford College students
- children of members of the Collegians Association
- children of practising Anglican clergy.
Families seeking enrolment at Radford College must be prepared to support the policies, rules and discipline of the College.
International students
Radford does not enrol international students. Applicants must be Australian citizens or hold a permanent residency visa.

What Year levels can I apply for?
Main intake years are Pre-Kindergarten, Year 3, Year 7 and Year 11. Other Year levels are only offered if and when vacancies arise. Radford does not accept new enrolments into Year 12.
Who receives priority on the waitlist?
Priority is given to children of permanent staff, siblings of Radford College students, children of members of the Radford Collegians Association and children of practising Anglican clergy.
Do cousins of current students receive priority?
Priority applies only to siblings.
Do twins receive special consideration?
If one twin is offered a place, the other automatically receives an offer for the same year level.
Can an offer be transferred between my children?
Offers apply to the child for whom the offer was made to and can’t be transferred.
If I am a former student, will my child automatically receive a place?
Children of members of the Radford Collegians Association receive priority, but a place cannot be guaranteed.
Does being a former staff member give my child priority?
Priority is only given to children of eligible current permanent staff, not former staff.
If I register my child early, am I guaranteed a place?
We can never guarantee a place at Radford College. Early registration improves your child’s position on the waitlist, but does not guarantee a place.
Can I still register if I’m new to Canberra or if I didn’t register my child early?
Waitlists remain open and families are welcome to register at any time. The enrolment process for intake years begins two years before entry. Progress on the waitlist is subject to interest at that time. Because circumstances often change, places may become available even if you register later.
Can my child be on more than one waitlist?
Each child can only be on one waitlist at a time. If a place is unavailable at the nominated entry point, your child’s name automatically transfers to the waitlist for the following year while keeping their original date of registration. Your child will remain on the waitlist until an offer is accepted, the child’s schooling is completed or you have elected to withdraw your waitlist application.
Tip: Place your child on the earliest entry point you would be prepared to accept.
Do I need to check in with enrolments once my child is registered?
You don’t need to check in with enrolments, but please ensure you keep your contact details current. Any changes to details or preferred entry points must be submitted in writing to the Director of Enrolments, who will confirm updates by email.
What happens if I decline an offer?
Families may decline up to two offers and retain their original registration date. After a third declined offer, the registration date resets to the date of that third offer. Please note, should you choose to decline an offer, we cannot guarantee a place at another entry point.
Does Radford enrol international students?
Children must be Australian citizens or permanent residents to enrol at Radford College.

When will I know if my child has a place?
For intake years, the process begins two years before entry. At this time, registered families receive a Confirmation of Interest email (please ensure your contact details remain current).
Offers are then made in order of priority (children of eligible permanent staff, siblings of Radford College students, children of members of the Radford Collegians Association and children of practicing Anglican clergy), followed by waitlist ranking. A balance of male and female students is maintained in each year group.
As families accept or decline places, offers continue until all available places are filled. Please note: families are only contacted if a place becomes available.
Can I visit the school before I register?
We welcome prospective families to attend a tour and information session with several tours scheduled throughout the year. Book a tour here.
My child is in Year 4. Can you confirm a place for Year 7?
Offers for Year 7 are only made when students are in Year 5.
Why can’t I be told my child’s position on the waitlist?
Waitlists change as families update preferences and new priority students are added. Providing a number would be misleading, as positions regularly change.
Can I accept an offer for one entry year and transfer it to another?
Offers are for a specific Year level and calendar year only and can’t be transferred to another year.
