Bishop's Cup and Spirit Cup winners announced

By Miss Hayley Oldfield, Head of Houses

After a nail-biting, two-week wait, the results for the Bishop’s Cup and Spirit Cup were finally announced this week, recognising the incredible efforts of students across a diverse range of activities.

This year’s Foundation Day, held on the last day of Term 1, continued the tradition of offering a wide variety of events, ensuring that every student had the opportunity to contribute to their House in a way that reflected their individual passions and strengths.

Students could compete in physical activities such as touch football, AFL and badminton, allowing our athletes to shine on the field and court. For students with a passion for the arts, a new art and design competition was introduced this year, offering a creative outlet and showcasing the incredible talent within our community. The rhythmic energy of the dance competition brought music, movement and vibrant spirit to the day, while the strategic minds of our students were put to the test in the ever-popular chess tournament.

This variety of activities truly captured the spirit of Foundation Day—one in which every student could play their part, whether through physical prowess, artistic creativity, strategic thinking or performance.

The competition across the Houses was exceptionally close this year, with only a handful of points separating each House by the end of the day. The final standings for the Bishop’s Cup, which recognises overall achievement across all events, were as follows:

  • 1st place – Banksia
  • 2nd place – Acacia
  • 3rd place – Jarrah
  • 4th place – Boronia
  • 5th place – Kurrajong
  • 6th place – Karri
  • 7th place – Wandoo
  • 8th place – Huon

For the Spirit Cup, awarded for outstanding House spirit, encouragement and participation, the results were:

  • 1st place – Karri
  • 2nd place – Boronia
  • 3rd place – Banksia
  • 4th place – Jarrah
  • 5th place – Acacia
  • 6th place – Kurrajong
  • 7th place – Huon
  • 8th place – Wandoo

Congratulations to Banksia on winning the Bishop’s Cup and to Karri for winning the Spirit Cup! Every House should be incredibly proud of their achievements and the way they represented themselves and their Houses on the day.

Thank you to all students, staff and House leaders who made the day such a success. We are already looking forward to an even bigger and better Foundation Day next year!
